Timtara Director and COO are under arrest for cheating people and doing Fraud

Two senior executives of Timtara.com Named Arindam Bose, the Director of Timtara.com and his associate Chief Operation Officer Harish Ahluwalia were arrested from Noida’s Sector 63 on Friday for cheating hundreds of customers of several lakhs of rupees by not delivering items ordered over the internet despite accepting payment, police said on Saturday.

The arrests came following investigations into over 200 complaints from all over the country, said SD Mishra, additional DCP (Economic Offences Wing).

“The victims claimed that they had paid money online through credit cards for various items such as mobile phones, cameras and pen drives. Despite repeated requests and follow-ups by customers, the goods never arrived at their addresses,” additional DCP Mishra said.

According to police, the company had shut down their front office in Noida’s Sector 8 to avoid detection and confrontation with the customers, they had cheated.

The website, ‘www.timtara.com, claimed to sell products like cameras, mobiles, home appliances etc.

“During investigation, it was revealed that the portal was actively engaged in online shopping fraud,” said Mishra.

Arindam Bose a Native of Kolkata, has a B.Tech in Electronics from Jadavpur University and has worked as an information technology professional for firms in India and abroad, police said .

Ahluwalia belongs to Kaithal in Haryana and began his career with M/s BUZZ Mobiles . He started timtara.com in 2010 with three others, Mishra said.

Apart from this three cases against Bose registered with the EOW and Janakpuri police stations under IPC sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating), he is accused of cheating in a property deal in Patiala, Police said.

Mishra said the three other directors, including Bose's wife, need to be questioned. "Although two of the directors — also founders of the company—resigned earlier, we are studying their liability. We are also inquiring how the company registered a Rs 14 crore turnover last year,'' he said.
