Holi happens to be my favourite

festival. I particularly enjoy the

colour part of it. I keep stocks of

every colour but red happens to

be my favourite. The other ones

specially, the purple is one I hate

to use on Holi. It never goes and

makes one look so bad.

Ialso enjoy preparing gujiyas

with my mother and sisters. My

mother keep frying them in the

pan, while we sisters do the

rolling, cutting and filling part of

it. My favourite job is to do the

filling which gives me a chance

to keep stealing the tasty khoya

which is full of dry fruits. Eating

the gujiyas - piping hot just as

they come out of pan is the other

most cherished moment of the

festival.

Ialso take care to keep my

preparation for the festival ready.

Like choose some old and faded

jeans and a shirt I am bored off

besides taking care of the oiling

and creaming part of it.

Otherwise, the aftermath of the

Holi festival could be extremely

tiresome.

I havealso had a bad experience

after Holi once when I got so

much engrossed in playing with

the colour that I became to late

to get a bath and the water tank

got exhausted. I had to wait for

hours drenched in the water

before the water supply was

restored. It was a very painful

lesson that I learnt - take a bath

on time.

Iparticularly enjoy the festival in

the company of friends and

relatives, i.e. when there are lot

of people to be coloured. The

excitement is unmatched when

everybody loves the festival as

much as you do.

Time for renewal

Holi is a time to rejuvenate. The

significance of holi festival has

crossed many pages in history to

arrive here, as a time to celebrate

renewal. Every festival has its

own traditions in the backdrop,

but what really matters is the

spirit of festivity.

Colours speaklouder than words

at times. Holi goes beyond the

custom of smearing colours on

each other. It crosses the realm

of traditional customs to reach

new dimensions of the renewal

and spirit. It's a time to create

new bonds, reach out to others

and forget the past worries.

Everyyear I embrace the

occasion with growing

enthusiasm that bridges over my

colourful childhood memories, to

reach me today, as a festival to

celebrate. Besides exchanging

sweets, colours and well-wishes,

MY FAVOURITE DIS WHICH I WANT TO EAT ON THE OCCASION OF MY FAVOURITE FESTIVAL HOLI IS BASUNDHI ...............

I M SHARING THE RECEIPE OF BASUNDHI

Ingriedients:(servings-2 members)

Milk-1 litre.(Thick milk-4.5% fat)

Sugar-2 big spoons(as per taste).

Lime- 1/2 cap or vinegar -1 tea spoon.

charoli(Sara parupu in tamil), Badam,Ghee- 2 to 3 tea spoon.

Method:

Boil the milk in thick bottomed vessel in sim mode till it reduced to 1/4 of the orginal quantity.

now add sugar to the milk and keep stirring for 10 mins.

Add lime/vinegar and keep stirring continously and you will find the layer that gets seperate out switch off the flame and add Sara parupu and Badam and spoon of ghee.

keep this refrigerated and serve cool as you want.

Actually Holi & Dhulivandan (Dhulati) is different think. Reason behind Holi Celibration is bcz...

There was once a demon king by the name of Hiranyakashyap who won over the kingdom of earth. He was so egoistic that he commanded everybody in his kingdom to worship only him. But to his great disappointment, his son, Prahlad became an ardent devotee of Lord Naarayana and refused to worship his father.Hiranyakashyap tried several ways to kill his son Prahlad but Lord Vishnu saved him every time. Finally, he asked his sister, Holika to enter a blazing fire with Prahlad in her lap. For, Hiranyakashyap knew that Holika had a boon, whereby, she could enter the fire unscathed.

Treacherously, Holika coaxed young Prahlad to sit in her lap and she herself took her seat in a blazing fire. The legend has it that Holika had to pay the price of her sinister desire by her life. Holika was not aware that the boon worked only when she entered the fire alone. Prahlad, who kept chanting the name of Lord Naarayana all this while, came out unharmed, as the lord blessed him for his extreme devotion.

Thus, Holi derives its name from Holika. And, is celebrated as a festival of victory of good over evil.

Holi is also celebrated as the triumph of a devotee. As the legend depicts that anybody, howsoever strong, cannot harm a true devotee. And, those who dare torture a true devotee of god shall be reduced to ashes.

This year i have plann to play Eco Friendly Holi with my friend & Family... & dry holi as there is so many states are there who dies for scarcity of drinking water...

How can we celebrae Holi...??

Well, we can keep different colored bands in plain envelopes and ask each one to pick one. These bands must be in pairs eg 2 no. red, 2 no. blue etc. Then those who have matching bands get to dare or give a target to each other(or you can think up some other competitive activity). The bands are just to get the feel of the festival of colors.

We can use colors just to put tilak but we must avoid playing with water and colors too much.

We can even give titles to everyone on holi and say bura na mano holi hai...

Drink thandai and eat laddooo..

MY HOLI STORY

Holi the last holi was just awesome for me,

It included love, anger, dance, rain and food and all,

First i celebrated it with my family, then i was on my way to my school friends home where we ate many such thing and the oldy goldy friends just got off from food and then had fun playing holi, after that in the afternoon i was to mandir "Temple" playing holi there with guruji :)

After that i was on my way to play holi with college friends in the evening had dinner with them had 2 boxes worth rs 3000 holi colors.....

it was just awesome..! :)

This was the holi which i played with everbody i liked and loved.. :)

HOLI CELEBRATION IDEA

My idea is not to play holi much this time and if you want to play, play it with herbal colors and go to the rain dance party it would really be fun go to everybody's home have get to gether meet different people give them smile you will surely enjoy the HOLI

our little conginzance keeps our mother earth safe.I always try to explore various alternatives to chemical colors without loosing festival sheen.I prepare my own colors and spread the awareness among my friends and family.For example,if i want yellow color,i soak marigold for a day and add turmeric to it.For green color,i soak mint and spinach leaves in water.It gives perfect green effect.For red color,i grind red seeds of Annato fruit.This way,i enjoy eco-friendly holi with a sense of responsibility.

Last year on holi festival day,me and two of my friends prepared various eco-friendly colors and planned to go to all of our engineering buddies homes and surprise them.we roamed on the roads screaming like mad people and reached homes of our friends one by one. our mad strengthened further and we had gala time splashing colors on each other including strangers. I never forget that memorable day in my life as it also gave us a sense of pride for using harm-less colors .This year,we already prepared various innovative eco-friendly colors and spreading the word among our circles.All set to rock the stage this year too.Happy Holi:)

This festival has few couples of mythological stories which gave emergence to Holi festival. But among all ‘Holika Dahan’ and ‘Krishna- Radha’ is very famous in India.About ‘Holika Dhahan’ it is well said that there was a king named Hiranyakashyap who was very brutal and arrogant. He considered himself as a God. He used to made people believe him as a God forcefully. But he got a son named son, ‘Prahlad’ who was a great divotee of ‘Lord Vishnu’. This was much disliked by the Hiranyakashyap and at last he decide to end the life of the his son ‘Prahlad’. For this he appointed his sister named ‘Holika’. she was a witch.

She got a boon from God that she might not get burn in fire if she cover herself with certain given cloth. So ‘Holika’ took ”Prahlad’ into her lap and sat in the pyre. But fortunately the booned cloth of ‘Holika’ flewd on the ‘Prahlad’. and due to this ‘Prahlad’ was saved from the fire and ‘Holika’ has turned into ashes. So that same day began ot celebrate as ‘Holi’ there after.

There was a another very famous story regarding to the ‘Radha-Krishna’. Krishna looked dark in complex and Radha who was his beloved was very fair. Krishna remained very naughty during his childhood. So due to his naughtiness he applied lots of colors on the face of Radha and from that period onwards Holi was celebrated with lots of enthusiasm in every part of the country and mostly in the northern part of the India as it belonged to the birthplace of lord ‘Krishna’.

Holi is my favourite festival since my childhood.

During my school days me and friends gather at the playground and enjoy holi until evening.

We splashed colors at each other and have great fun.This festival unites everyone beyond their caste,religion etc. The bright colours of holiday represent life, energy and joy.

Natural colours were used when I was a kid but now a days a lot of artificial colours that are used while playing may cause skin problems.Use only natural colours and make it a wonderful day.

Holi is the most colourful festival in the whole world.

Young or old everyone loves playing holiday.

Bonfires are lit during the night and we used to chat the whole night.

This Holi is really colourful for me. Every year, we used to celebrate Holi by applying colour powder in the faces of our family members and friends. This time, when we celebrate it by applying the colour powders in my street people, suddenly I saw a new girl who is residing in the next street passing our street. My friends planned to apply colour powder to her face and knowing this she got scared as she is going to an important place on a hurry. It we apply the powder then she need to return her home, clean her face, change her clothes and that took time so that she may miss the appointment.

When my friends are coming closer to that girl, her face became very scary. I understood the situation and stopped my friends and explained them that she don't like this and she is going for an important work. Suddenly argument started within us and I spoke on behalf of her. Finally, I won the argument and we allowed her to move without applying colour on her face.

Due to this, she reached the place on the correct time and she started liking me. Thanks to Holi for getting me a new girl friend!
